Dr. Mark Swaim’s journey to child psychology began with his own experiences in caring for children who have emotional and cognitive difficulties. Children with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other disabilities such as Asperger’s Syndrome and autism can and do struggle with navigating the world around them. Having spent many years in the study and treatment of toddlers and children who have these difficulties, he dedicated himself to a career of looking for new and better ways by which to help children thrive in a world that can be so hostile to them.
After many years of study, one of the most significant breakthroughs in Dr. Mark Swaim’s career is when is discovered his affinity in uniting children with the right therapy and comfort animals. He learns each child’s needs and helps train animals to care for them and attend to their needs, especially. Having a comfort animal that reduces their anxiety allows them to remain happier and more at ease, especially in stressful situations. He has aided hundreds of children in finding the right companion for their needs and has helped even more today. He continues to do great work in studying and helping children, as well as looking into the therapeutic effects of animals.
